Prep Consult

Unlike other photographers, I schedule a personal consultation with all my SCP seniors to prepare for the perfect day. When you leave the consultation, you will come away feeling confident about the hair and makeup application, ideas on what to wear and what not to wear, location options, and lots of tips and tricks for the perfect senior session experience that you can only get as a SCP senior. As a SCP senior, you receive a Get Ready Digital Magazine. It has everything we covered in our meeting and so much more, so you have to stress about anything.

As your Senior Photographer, I provide you with personalized guidance to help you in choosing images and products that blend with your family's unique requirements, contemplating elements such as wall space, decor, desired style, intended use, and display location. During our meeting, you will have the opportunity to review and handle products, receiving expert design counsel to ensure that your creative vision is accurately captured without the burden or overwhelming feeling of independently navigating a large online gallery. Ultimately, you will depart feeling assured in your decisions and pleased by our collaborative approach to selecting the most fitting products for your family.

Choosing the Right Photographer For You

Chances are, if you are considering or have contacted a senior photographer, you have visited their website or scrolled their Instagram account and been inspired by their work. That is one of the most important reasons to consider a photographer. So, pick someone whose style aligns with the vision you are striving for.

01 Consulation

When choosing a senior photographer, it is important to know if they offer a pre-consultation or do you meet for the first time on the day of the shoot. A photographer who offers to meet with you before the session might be exactly what you hoped for. It can be overwhelming to many seniors, when they need help with clothing ideas, location options, style ideas, and hair and makeup, and it just not there.

02 Personality

The perfect senior photographer for you may be different than that of your best friend. Choose a photographer who you feel will bring your unique personality out. If you are shy, you want someone who can make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. If you are high energy, you want some who can match that vibe. Your senior session should be fun, adventurous at times, and easy breezy.

03 Collaboration

It is so important your senior photographer works with you throughout the planning and creative process that happens during the session. Your senior photographer should provide you with guidance and be open to your ideas. It is your senior session, and you deserve all the input you would like to give.

04 Options

Find out what products the photographer offers and what their ordering process is. Do they offer only digitals, and you are on your own to find a photo lab, crop your own images, and figure out the products you need? Do they provide you with an online gallery where you can pick your images, and they work with a pricing sheet, or do you offer a personalized one-on-one reveal and ordering appointments where your photographer will help you pick the products you desire and the images to go with those products?

02 Assurance

And lastly, if it is important to you to have a photographer who is going to be in business for future shoots, you can ask them how long they have been in business.. Or if they have a contract. You don’t want to pay a retainer, and then your photographer does not show up, and you have nothing in writing. And there is nothing wrong with asking if they have backup equipment just in case there is a camera malfunction that leaves you with a delay or postponed session.

That’s completely normal — and honestly, it’s one of the reasons I do an in-person planning meeting before your session!

By the time session day arrives, you’ll feel comfortable, relaxed, and excited. I’ll guide you every step of the way to make it fun and natural — no stiff posing here!

How do we choose outfits and locations?

You won’t have to figure it all out alone!

During our planning meeting, we’ll talk through your style, personality, and vision. You’ll also receive a Get Ready Guide packed with tips for outfits, accessories, and what photographs best — all designed to make getting ready simple and stress-free.

I don’t know what to do with my hair and makeup — help!
